The “Hero” business center is nearing completion: facade installation work has been finished

The construction of the “Hero” business center, rising on the right bank of the Neris River in central Vilnius, is rapidly nearing completion. A significant milestone has been reached – the main facade installation work has been finished.

“One of the most challenging aspects of this project was implementing the architectural facade solutions, covering nearly 14,000 square meters of element-based facade structures. To carry out this work, we selected one of the largest and most experienced companies in this field in Northern Europe – “Staticus.” The company's portfolio includes successful projects not only in Lithuania but also in the United Kingdom, Sweden, Denmark, Norway, and Iceland,” says Julius Dovidonis, CEO of “Realco”.

Unique Structural Solutions

The facades of the “Hero” business center consist of more than 1,500 elements, with exterior volumetric finishes made from aluminum composite panels. In total, the center features 13,900 square meters of element-based facade structures and over 2,000 square meters of prefabricated facade with structural glazing.

Jonas Garbaliauskas, Project Manager at “Staticus”, emphasizes that the “Hero” business center stands out for its architectural and structural solutions, with one of the biggest challenges being its unconventional facade shape—its elements had to be arranged in an arc.

“The facades are fitted with massive trapezoidal decorative elements, each differing in direction and form within every facade segment. This architectural choice not only gives the building a unique character but also creates a significant number of distinctive elements,” explains Garbaliauskas.

According to the company representative, most facade elements were manufactured with exceptional precision using robotic bending machines that rank among the largest in the Baltic region. This method ensured precise calculations and accurate shaping of each component. Additionally, 3D printing technology was used to test facade solutions and assess their functionality.

Work Progressing on Schedule

“Designing, manufacturing, and installing such a large-scale facade in less than a year was an ambitious challenge. We have calculated that, when combining the working hours of everyone involved in the project, we will have dedicated more than 150,000 work hours to the “Hero” project. Despite the shorter completion timeframe compared to similar-sized projects, we managed to finish all major facade installation work on time,” says J. Garbaliauskas.

The highest standards are being applied to the “Hero” project, not only in terms of construction quality but also in creating a healthy work environment and ensuring the building's sustainable lifecycle. “Staticus” follows the same approach, as highlighted by the company’s Head of Sustainability, Laura Craft, who emphasizes that sustainability in architecture today requires a much broader perspective than before.

“Lifecycle assessments now consider not only the building itself, its components, and materials but also everything surrounding it—from raw material sourcing, production, transportation, and construction to recycling, employees, communities, and end users. As a comprehensive facade contractor, we have the ability to make a positive impact on sustainability at various levels by carefully managing the lifecycle of our products, which includes engineering, procurement, manufacturing, assembly, logistics, installation, and maintenance,” explains L. Craft.

“Hero” to Open Its Doors in the September

The construction of the new “Hero” business center, which will cover 31,500 square meters, is expected to be completed this fall. Potential tenants will have access to spaces ranging from fully furnished small offices to larger areas of up to 4,000 square meters. The “Hero” environment and its sustainable lifecycle will adhere to the global “WELL Gold” certification for healthy buildings and the “BREEAM Excellent” sustainability standard. “Hero” is set to become the first business center in the Baltic region to receive the prestigious “WELL Gold” certification.
