Construction of a multifunctional sports centre in Vilnius was launched

Construction a new multifunctional sports centre next to Ozas shopping mall and Vichy water park, in Vilnius, started, and the investment of EUR 3 million will be made into it.

The centre of 4 500 sq.m. area will invite visitors to play badminton, beach volleyball and beach tennis, tournaments of these sports are planned to be organised.

The centre will house 16 badminton courts, 4 closed beach volleyball and beach tennis courts, a universal fitness space of over 400 sq.m. area. In 2017, five outdoor beach volleyball courts will be built next to the complex.

According to Vichy, the building has no name yet, negotiations with several companies are carried out, other offers are expected. Business support would enable to offer privileged conditions for professional sportsmen to train in the centre.

'We expect approximately 250 000 visitors per year', Ieva Šembarienė, head of the multifunctional sports centre, is cited in the press release.

Best badminton player of Lithuania Kęstutis Navickas who took part in the symbolic capsule burial ceremony stated that sportsmen still lack adequate badminton infrastructure.

'World-standard centre with modern training base is a good news for all professionals and enthusiasts of this sport. Better training conditions allow to expect better results in the future', said the sportsman, bronze medallist at the last year's European Games.

Construction is carried out by Axis Power UAB and RE project development Realco UAB. Architect of the centre – Tiksli forma UAB.
